Welcome to CONGREGATION SHAAREI HASHAMAYIM, a Messianic Jewish Synagogue.
Messianic Jewish - what does that mean? It means that we express our faith in the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in a way that is consistent with the life example and teaching of Yeshua (Jesus) who is the Messiah spoken of in the Torah, Prophets and Writings (T’ nakh). It means that our worship is based upon the same practice that was common 2,000 years ago among the Jewish followers of Yeshua.
Our liturgy and worship reflects a blending of patterns from traditional Judaism with New Covenant teachings. Messianic Judaism embraces standard Jewish observance of Holy Days and traditions just as Yeshua did in the Second Temple Era. Obviously, since that Temple was destroyed we must ask ourselves how these observances should look for followers of Yeshua. We must interact with Rabbinic traditions, Jewish life and practice, diverse forms of expressions within the Jewish Community, the joy of the establishment of a Jewish state in the re-birth of Israel and what it means to be Jewish in the 21st century all within the context of our belief that the New Covenant Scriptures advance the agenda of G’d in His outworking of His purposes for Israel and the Jewish people in the diaspora. Our Messianic Jewish Congregation prays for the peace of Jerusalem and desires that Yeshua the Prince of Peace would soon return and bring in the Kingdom.
